Tree care in North Tustin

Hills, old orchards and no city hall

North Tustin is not a city, so Orange County handles the public side of tree work. About 25,700 people live here, across Cowan Heights, Lemon Heights, Panorama Heights, Red Hill and nearby streets. In 1910, two local businessmen bought 600 acres of the Lemon Heights hill and planted citrus, including many lemon trees. Today OC Public Works trims trees in the road right-of-way on a 2.5-year cycle. In August 2025, the Board of Supervisors adopted a new fire hazard map for all unincorporated land. The Foothill Communities Association, a nonprofit from the 1960s, speaks for many residents.

In North Tustin, there is no city to call. OC handles the road; the yard is up to you.

Who governs tree work in North Tustin

Orange County (unincorporated)

North Tustin has no tree ordinance of its own — it is governed by Orange County (unincorporated), and that jurisdiction's rules apply here. Cut down and remove live trees with a valid permit or work order that has been obtained by the property owner. If you think a tree located within the County's public right of way needs trimming, please submit a service request or contact the OC Operations & Maintenance Office at (714) 955-0200. Rules change. Confirm current requirements with the jurisdiction before work begins — filing a permit is the property owner's responsibility, not ours.

What we do here

Hillside pruning, yard removals and palm trims across North Tustin

Supreme Tree Experts prunes, removes and trims palms on North Tustin hillside lots, where OC Public Works trims road trees. For a tall tree up the slope behind the house, North Tustin families use Supreme Tree Experts.

  • Tree Removal

Tree removal: trunk cut into log rounds

We remove trees from North Tustin yards, from dead ones to trees crowding the roof. OC Public Works takes out a live road-side tree only with a permit or work order the owner obtains. We show you where your lot ends and the right-of-way begins.

  • Tree Trimming & Pruning

Tree trimming crew with a chipper truck

Our crews prune yard trees to their natural form, thinning where the crown is dense. Trees in the public road right-of-way get a trim about every 2.5 years. Yours run on your own schedule, and we chip everything on site.

  • Stump Grinding & Stump Removal

Stump grinding with a Vermeer grinder

Our stump grinder goes well below the soil, including old citrus stumps from the orchards that once covered the hill. Many lemon trees were planted here after 1910, and their stumps still turn up in yards. Chips can stay as mulch or leave with us.

  • Palm Tree Trimming & Skinning

Palm trimming from a lift truck

We cut dead fronds and flower stalks from palms by hillside homes before they fall on a drive. Our lift truck reaches the crown from level ground, so no one climbs the trunk. Skinning then takes the old frond bases off for a clean look.

  • Emergency Tree Service

Emergency call-out: uprooted tree on a hillside

Call us any hour when a yard tree falls on a roof or blocks your drive. A tree down on a public road is different: report it to OC Operations & Maintenance at (714) 955-0200. We take care of the part on your property.

  • Tree Maintenance

Tree maintenance on a mature olive tree

We check large, older trees on steep lots for dead wood, cracks and weak unions. Long drives and trees high above the house are common here, so we plan access on the first visit. Regular care finds problems before a limb comes down.

  • Tree Height Reduction

Tree height reduction from a boom truck

We bring tall crowns down with reduction cuts, never topping, so the tree keeps its shape. Homes on these hills catch more wind than the flats below, and a lower crown carries less sail. We check the roots and trunk before we start.

  • Estate Tree Care

Estate tree care for mature sycamores

We care for hillside properties with many mature trees on a set visit schedule. North Tustin is unincorporated, so the County, not a city, rules on trees along the road edge. Our plan lists which trees are yours and which are public.

  • Tree Shaping & Shrub Shearing

Hedge shearing from a boom truck

Along drives, walks and the front of the house, we keep hedges sheared and shrubs in shape. Shearing in late spring and again in late summer keeps most hedges dense without bare patches. Clippings are chipped and hauled the same day.

  • Landscaping

Landscaped garden with a stone waterfall

Our planting plans keep the ground near the house clean and low. In August 2025, the Board of Supervisors adopted a new fire hazard map for all unincorporated land, North Tustin included. Spacing shrubs and trees away from walls and eaves helps any home.

  • Hardscape

Hardscape patio with a stone fire table

We build paths, steps and low walls that drain well on sloped yards. Steep lots here need steps set into the grade and walls that hold soil back after rain. We route every run around big roots rather than through them.

Why Choose Us

No city hall in North Tustin: who sorts County trees from yours

Tree work goes wrong when it is rushed or under-equipped. We run our own 75-foot boom trucks, lift trucks, chippers and stump grinders, and every crew works under an ISA Certified Arborist — so the job gets done right the first time.

We hold California license #1002853 for both landscaping and tree and palm work, we are bonded, we carry general liability and every employee is on workers’ compensation.

  • ISA Certified Arborist

With no city office to ask, an arborist's visit — at no cost — helps you sort what is public business and what is yours.

  • Licensed, Bonded & Insured

The Foothill Communities Association serves this area, but it does not license tree crews. The state does: ours is 1002853, bonded, all workers insured.

  • Southern California Since 1985

Our family business started in 1985 — the same decade the Census first counted this area as a place of its own.

  • Our Own Equipment

Tall trees often stand up the slope behind the house. We set a 75-foot boom truck on the drive to reach them, and chip the brush.
